One permission, no surprises. WindowBuddy moves windows using macOS's Accessibility feature, so it asks for that permission — and nothing else. First launch walks you through flipping the switch in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.

is it really free?
Yes — WindowBuddy 1.0 is free to download and use. No account, no trial timer, no nag screens.
why does it need the Accessibility permission?
macOS only lets an app move other apps' windows through its Accessibility feature — every window manager needs it. It's a one-time switch, onboarding walks you through it, and it's the only permission WindowBuddy ever asks for.
can I change the shortcuts?
All 19 actions are remappable in Settings — or clear them entirely if you're a drag-to-snap person.
does it handle more than one display?
Yes. Throw a window at the next display with ⌃⌥⌘← / → and it lands already snapped — and windows recover neatly when a display comes or goes.
will it fight with another window manager?
WindowBuddy only claims the shortcuts you give it. If you're switching from another snapping tool, quit that one first so two apps aren't wrestling over the same keys.
why isn't it on the Mac App Store?
App Store rules sandbox apps away from controlling other windows. WindowBuddy ships as a notarized direct download instead — same Apple security checks, none of the limitations.
how do updates work?
Through the built-in updater — it checks this site only when you allow it, and every update is signed and notarized. Nothing else ever phones home.
